![]() How much setting up is required to switch from the ISP-provided router to a 3rd party router? Do you just plug it in, and the broadband line takes care of the rest? (i.e. Scenario: You've just taken out a new broadband plan with an ISP, and as usual they have shipped out their cookie-cutter, embodiment-of-mediocrity router which of course is as simple as plug and play. Very quick question, this is something I've never really looked into or understood. I have Googled "Deco M5 VPN server compatibility", and haven't found anything, I've also Googled "Deco app VPN server missing" and variants of both of these search terms- nothing.Īnyone have any ideas? I'd be really surprised if the M5 model simply isn't compatible. The host Deco is hooked up to my ISP's router over Ethernet.Īll the other options are there, but in between "Address reservation" and "Fast roaming", there is nothing, where the two VPN options are supposed to be. I have a mesh network set up with six Deco M5 models, configured in Wifi Router mode (which is how it is configured in the tutorial on TP-Link's website, so it's not like I'm supposed to be in AP mode). I'm not a networking expert, but I'm relatively tech savy, I've tried all sort of different things, enabling/disabling various other options hoping one of them might be the reason for the option not being available, and nothing has worked. I have found extensive instructions on how to do this on TP-Link's website, only I can't get passed step 1 because I simply don't have the "VPN Server" option visible in the app, and I can't figure out why. I'm trying to create a VPN server on my Deco mesh network so I can access my network shared files from a different network.
